So when I saw Tia's review of a book she was sent I thought it was a great idea and enrolled with Book Sneeze. The book I chose was The Final Summit by Andy Andrews.

Unfortunately I managed to choose a sequel but luckily the author gave a brief resume in the first chapter. The main character, David Ponder, is it seems a time traveller and is now a successful business man. He is visited by the (Arch)angel Gabriel (if you read the book you will discover the relevance of the brackets!) who tells him he must chair a summit in which various famous people from history must discover the key phrase to save humanity.
The strength of this book was the interaction between the characters - you had Winston Churchill, Anne Frank, King David and Abraham Lincoln (amongst others) sitting around a table debating not just the subject matter - but also winding each other up in places. At times it was a bit predictable eg the suggestions for saving humanity were the usual compassion, hope etc but the final answer was an interesting twist.
The author is described on the blurb on the back as being a motivational speaker. Although I enjoyed the book and will look out for the prequel, I wouldn't describe it as a life changing read and something that I will look back on and thumb through the pages again when I need inspiration or direction.
In the spirit of book sneeze I'm giving this book to the first person puts a comment that they would like it!
