Finally

6 years after the subject was first raised, rainforests (electronic and virtual) of letters and emails and memos and plans and phonecalls, Matthew spent his first night in his new bedroom this week.

There are a few teething problems which hopefully will be sorted out including the changing table above the bath being put in, yes above the bath, but 4 inches above the bath so too high for me to comfortably use (but perfect height for at least one of our carers - she has now been told she is not allowed to leave!) Luckily this was solved with a stool knocked up by Jol the (bodge it as he puts it) builder in under an hour!

The temporary storage box under the bed became very temporary and a trip to buy some plastic drawers was made after Wilf was seen running around carrying socks and vests and t-shirts etc around - thieved from his new found treasure trove!

Matthew has been waking a bit more in the night, but that may be due to the fact he is in a different room with different noises, now lying on his left hand side rather than his right, is facing a different compass direction, and of course just because he is. Hopefully he will settle into his new room and at least it gave us a chance to discover the baby monitor last used 7+ years ago still works!

The OT came out this week to officially show us how to use the hoists and slings but Jack (I am Matthew's stunt double)

had a sneaky practice run before Matthew (I do all my own stunts) had a try

The ramp which was made so the foundations could be dug lower and so allowed the room to be slightly larger (all to do with roof angles etc) has provided an extra source of amusement too.....*

*unfortunately I didn't get to record Wilf pulling Matthew down it by his sock!
