Time: 8.45 am last Monday morning
I glance out of the window as I tell Jack '5 minutes...' to see a van pull up in the drive. Cue yell to Jol that the builders (for Matthew's downstairs bathroom) are (unexpectedly) here.
Run downstairs and ask the builder if he had come to measure up as we were told they would be doing a site visit once the bath had been ordered before arranging a start date.
Builder says no he (and his mates all 3 of them who are 5 minutes behind him) are here to start work!!!
Said builder looks slightly worried when I tell him we were not expecting him and that the room had not been emptied. He then hurriedly consults his papers to check he should not be somewhere else but no he has the right name address and date - just a shame we weren't in on the information!
As it has taken best part of 5 years to get this far we were not going to let him off the premises. I had to take Jack to school and then head off for work so left Jol to it.
Thankfully the builders came up trumps and not only helped empty the room but in the space of four and half days converted this
into this
A few finishing touches are needed, including a spring board if anyone other than Matthew wants to use the bath as it has been put on a plinth so it is the right height for me when the changing table is put in. As there isn't a curtain up so anyone using the bath would be in full view of any passing cow or sheep that isn't an urgent need (although might be fun!) In the meantime we are enjoying being a 2 loo household!

Wow that was quick - hope Matthew enjoys his new bathing facilities :)
